Patna: The Indian Central Government today decided to create new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Five districts are Changthang, Drass, Nubra, Sham and Zanskar.
Today, Monday, Dated 26th September 2024, Home minister of India announced on a social media post on X, he said that “In pursuit of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new disticts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The new districts, namely Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, will take the benefits meant for the people to their doorstops by bolstering governance in every nook and cranny”.
He further also said that Modi government is committed to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh.
Earlier in the past few months people of Ladakh had protest against the central government due to interferance of LG in their daily life and negliance of their duties and demanded statehood of Ladakh. They were also unhappy about their animal were not able feed along India-China border and announced in the past to move toward border but they were denied by local authority.
Central government was aware about this protest and so they decided to create five new district in union territory of Ladakh to ease the problems of local people and give more and more development access.
In August 2019, the Center government revoked Article 370, which gave special status to the Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the region into ntwo Union Territories Jammu- Kashmir and Ladakh.
Meanwhile, recently Election Commission of India announced polling in Jammu and Kashmir. The polling will start in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 4.
This will be first state election held in the region since the abrogation of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir will witness elections after a gap of ten yers , as the the last assembly election was held in 2014.
