Automobiles hits lowest sales in India amid heat waves and Lok Sabha election in May 2024.
The industries Wholesale figures stood at 3,50,257 units in May and growth of only 4.4% over the sales figure of 3,35,436 units in May 2024.

Tata Motors
Ratan Tata’s company “Tata Motors’s” sales in the domestic and international market including both commercial vehicles stood at 76,766 vehicles compared with 74,973 units in May 2023.
Domestic sales of total passenger vehicles stood at 46,697 units compared with 45,878 units in May 2023 shows only growth of 2%.
In compared with last year May, exports of passenger vehicles stood at 378 units compared with 106 units in May last year. EV sales from Tata stable in May stood a 5,558 units, including exports compared with 5,805 units in May last year that show decrease in growth of nearly 4%.
Maruti Suzuki
Japanese’s company Maruti Suzuki’s domestic sales stood at 1,57,184 units compared with 1,51,606 units in May 2023 and shows growth of only 3.5%. In term of exports, the company took a hit with only 17,367 units compared with 26,477 units in May 2023.
Partho Banerjee, sales and marketing head of Maruti Suzuki, said that “We missed a shipment in May because of the Red Sea crisis. we will make up for it in coming months. The company has a network stock of 33-36 days, which Banerjee described as “Okay”. He was telling all these things as describing the low exports as a “One off Case”.
Kia India
South Korean auto giant Kia India registered a sales of 19,500 units in May 2024. The company recorded a y-0-y growth of over 3.9% compared with 18,766 units in the corresponding month of the last year.
Launched in the month of January, the automobile new Sonet emerged as the highest-selling model with 7,433 units, closely followed by Seltos and Carens with 6,736 and 5,316 units, respectively.
MG Motors
MG Motor India on Saturday reported 5% dip in wholesales at 4,769 units in May compared with 5,006 units to dealers in May 2023.
Toyota Kirloskar
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Saturday reported 24% year-on-year increase in total wholesales in May at 25,273 units. Last month, domestic sales stood at 23,959 units while exports were 1,314 units.
Royal Enfield
Motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Saturday reported an 8% decrease in total sales at 71,010 units in May as against 77,416 units sold in the same month one year ago.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)
